From the Field – Where Our Journey Begins
Here, we will take you behind the scenes of Asia Gateway's activities and the local atmosphere where projects are born through photos and videos. From the solar panels spreading across the vast land of Mongolia to the vibrant cityscapes of our partner countries and the smiling faces of the local community, we hope you enjoy this look at the path we have taken and the future we envision.
A large-scale renewable energy power plant operating in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia
In Erdene, Dornogovi Province—near the border with China—we commissioned a 15 MW solar plant in 2022. In 2024, we expanded the site with another 15 MW of solar and an 80 MWh battery system, enhancing stability and enabling flexible power delivery.
Amid the vast, austere Gobi, a control building and rows of panels rise from the sands. With 53,184 modules, the project delivers reliable power year-round and reduces greenhouse-gas emissions by 33,700 tCO₂ annually.
Highlights
- Location: Erdene, Dornogovi Province, Mongolia
- Capacity: PV 15 MW (2022) + PV 15 MW & BESS 80 MWh (2024)
- Equipment: ~30,000 solar panels
- Impact: 33,700 tCO₂/year avoided emissions
Altai Tavan Bogd National Park in Mongolia
This park, which also borders Russia and China, is known for its majestic mountains, vast glaciers, and rich nomadic culture. Our company is planning a project at the foothills of this park.
Promoting the Electrification of TukTuks in Partnership with Cambodia’s TukTuk Drivers Association
Since 2015, we have been working on the electrification of TukTuks—a vital means of transportation for everyday life in Cambodia.
This initiative began when our founder, Mr. Kimura, was invited by the Cambodian Ministry of Environment to give a lecture in Phnom Penh in 2013 on the electrification of paratransit systems. That event marked the starting point of our activities in Cambodia.
Installation of a Rooftop Solar Power System in an Industrial Park in Santiago
In 2023, a 2 MW rooftop solar power system was installed on factory buildings in an industrial park in Santiago, the capital of Chile.
The project was implemented under Japan’s JCM Equipment Subsidy Program.
